One of the simplest ways to begin is with just your Bible, a concordance, a notepad and a pencil or pen. You can do a word study - tracing a particular word through a book, or series of books. You might choose one book of the Bible to focus on. This web site has some ideas. This one has some good ideas for beginners.

There are Bible study books available. One of my favorite authors is Liz Curtis Higgs and her "Bad Girls of the Bible" series is great. If you are interested in them, let me know and I'll send you my copy to use.

I think that one of the important reasons for studying the Bible is to learn to hear from God, so no matter what method. Begin by praying, and asking God what He wants to teach you.

Studying the Bible is one of the most exciting things you can do as you see God's Word come alive for you.

Hello Cheri
There are many ways to start in studying the Bible. The best way depends on what you want to accomplish, for example do you want to know more about Jesus life and promises, more about the early church, more about God's dealing with Israel before the time of Jesus, more about what the general themes of the Bible are and how they fit together, more about a specific thing like prayer or healing or peace or ???? Please let me know so I can give you a good answer. Checking out the things Susan mentioned can be a big help too.

Yes that could very well be.

Please forgive me for letting this get lost in the moderation queue for this long. It normally shows me when there is something waiting to moderate but it seems I am going to have to check through the control panel too. If something you post as a question doesn't show up in a day or so please tell me I've missed something. That applies to everyone not just Cheri.
