Default What difference does it make? (part tribute part eulogy)

When Charles was little his stepfather was known for meanness, hate, probably insanity or at least the military thought so when they shortened up his service, and serious attempts to injure or kill Charles. By God's mercy Charles lived with his grandparents not his mom and stepfather. The man had sung in churches etc. but there was no manifestation of God's love in him. As Charles got older frankly he went out of his way at times to provoke the man. Other times they tolerated one another but that was about the best it got. There was bitterness and hate on both sides and it was far from hidden. Then Charles met Jesus. I'll leave that story for him to share but the change was drastic. One part of that change was that God began to peel away the hate and bitterness and replace it with a desire to pray for his stepfather. God worked on both sides and some mutual respect developed. Along about then his stepfather began to reach out to the Lord. Exactly when salvation came to him I am not sure but a few years back there was a full surrender and this man who had spewed hate and vengence began to pray for people who had hurt him, began to read the Bible, began to want to see certain preachers on TV instead of cursing at them. As both men grew in Christ they grew towards one another. They became real friends. They said I love you. These men who for years had exchanged hate actually said I love you. That is Jesus. Charles step daddy (sometime along the line he went from being referred to only by his name to stepfather to stepdad to stepdaddy) is in heaven now. Some people say we can't be sure where someone really went. I'm sure. I saw Jesus in his life.

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. Matthew 25:40 & 45
