It's kind of an American and Canadian thing starting w new settlers thanking God for surviving tho the "Indians" aka Native Americans aka First People brought much of the food. Do a web search sometime u may find it interesting.

And before someone yelps politically incorrect Indians was the term used then not out of dishonor but lousy geography. Columbus originally was looking for a route to India.
My husband is 1/4 Cherokee and we think another tribe on other side. We lived on the Trail of Tears and got to know descendants of those who did not take that walk as well as descendants of some who did. His folks prefer the term Native American but I have caught heck and then some from other friends from other tribes for using any term but first people. For the record they were indeed not first other peoples were here long before. My own preference is to make as few differences as possible between members of the human race.

Yeah I learnt about it at school, the Pilgrims and all that. Also I always hear a lot about it this time of year although not in N. America.

Your last paragraph - Amen to that sister!
