Default Postal food Drive

On May 14 the postman will pick up bags of non perishable food. Some smaller cities may require you to take the food to the post office If you live in a small city or you won't be home om MAy 14th, you can take the food to the post office. God bless you.

I could probably do a search on google and find out but that would not be as much fun as hearing here...
Is this for all the states in the U.S.?
If you live in a rual areal you have to go to the post office..
I think this is a great idea
...But an odd time of year for it?
Lord Bless,
Teresa

Teresa, Yes this is a nationwide occurance. THe postal food drive is done every year, usually on the Saturday before MOther's Day to honor moms. But since May begins on Sunday, and Mother's Day's is the following Sunday, the food drive will be a little later this year. I don't think that having the food drive in May is odd at all.

Please forgive my ignorance on this matter ...
We have collected food at christmas and thanksgiving and when disaster has stricken but I have not been aware of a mail man food drive...
I will search out the details and see what I have to offer here...
And I will let my friends know about it also...
Ann your letter was certainly from your heart and I felt your concern...
I know you are a real blessing to your community...
Lord Bless and thank you for making us aware of the need!!

There were four baby food coupons in our paper today. I figured that your newspapers might have them as well. Check and see if your Sunday paper has any baby food coupons. If it does, you can use them to but extra baby food for the postal drive.

Yes, it is for all states. It isn't an odd time, to do a food drive. The Postal workers do it to honor Mother's Day.

Beyond that National Hunger Awareness Day is in early June.

In our area 1 in every 6 kids does not have food enough to be healthy.
That is when school is in session. Take away the possibility of low cost or free school lunch and breakfast add in higher child care costs when school is out and you get some very hungry younguns.

Malnutrition is also a leading cause of sickness, falls, nursing home placement, even death for older ppl.

The National Day of Prayer is the 4th,Thursday..
God is giving us ample opportunity's
to "give" of our selves and our bounty...

I was just thinking about how much joy it gives me to be able to give to
others when I can..whether it is for the natural man or the spiritual one..
It is joy to give ...
it just dawned on me that is the same way we are to give to Him..
Joyfully..
I have not seen it quite like that before...

The food drive is two weeks from Saturday. Purchase a few things for somebody less fortunate.

Whether you help the Postal Food Drive, your church's food pantry, a local food help place directly, or just neighbors in need please do help this year if you possibly can. Food bank supplies are very low around the country and more ppl than ever are asking for help. http://www.secondharvest.org/news_ro...es/040408.html

Please also pray for Caring Hands for the first time in 13 yrs I had to turn away a family we could not help with food. There was somewhere else to send them. They will not be without and perhaps God had a plan and reason why no was the right answer for this family this time. I just know we haven't had to say no before because we didn't have what was needed for food and it concerns me a lot. Food order didn't come and community donations are very scanty and I know we are not the only organization with a similar situation.

Right now times are so hard for so many..
If you have two cans in your cabinet consider sharing with someone who has no cabinet..
It is unbelievable to me how much of my life I have spent being so selfish that I did not share ...

I do pray the Lord open our hearts to see the joy of giving ..
and it does not depend on having an abundance..it is a heart issue..
