Default Responsibility?

How do you see your responsibilities as a Christian, a citizen, a human being? Several things have come up that have gotten me thinking about this. I'd be interested to know how other respond to them.

We know a pastor who feels voting and any political activities is wrong because it is in his view taking the decision out of God's hands. We know others who equally sincerely believe that if Christian's don't vote and share their political views they are shirking their duty and leaving the country to infidels and others who believe we should be on street corners demonstrating and everywhere else we can get proclaiming what they believe is right (politically not "just religiously") What is your view on this and how do you carry out that view?

What about when someone is not treated right and is not really able to stand up for themselves and get help? A man we know works in home health. One of his patients is an 80+ yr old man who is semi bedridden and confused. His son's did a short term placement in a facility and he came back covered in human waste and bed sores. Beyond cleaning him up what is the responsibility of the home care person in your view - minding his own business reporting, to authorities who can check others in that placement talking to the sons, or ? What about when a child is in a hurtful or dangerous situation- do you get involved and call authorities or decide you should not get involved? What if it is a kitten or puppy or a goat that is 2 days without food or water? When do you ignore things, just pray, add action to your prayers? How do you make the decision?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. ... Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. Matthew 25:40 & 45
